This program is designed to include many of the rehabilitation professions and offers opportunities for qualified clinical professionals to prepare for careers in independent research, teaching, and administration. It is the goal of this program to prepare graduates who will provide vision and direction for the integration of the rehabilitation professions; advance the theory and practice of rehabilitation science through research, and acquire and integrate knowledge related to the social and basic medical sciences.

The College of Nursing at the University of Rhode Island offers a Ph.D. program in nursing. Its purpose is to prepare outstanding and compassionate nurse researchers and scholars to advance knowledge through the conduct of research and the development and testing of theory to influence health and nursing practice. The program cultivates inquiry and stimulates collaborative relationships with professional colleagues both in nursing and other disciplines. Although part-time study is possible, students are encouraged to study on a full-time basis in order to fully engage in the Ph.D. program.

The third cycle concludes the philosophical specialization with the achievement of a Doctoral Degree. The student must attend monographic courses (Doctoral Lecture Series) and writes the thesis under a director; the work must bring an effective contribution to the philosophical research.

Training purposes: To train in the production and development of philosophical reflection to researchers of the highest level with criteria of academic excellence, leaders for their community, committed to the needs and problems of Colombian society. This mission supposes the permanent construction of an academic space in which the necessary resources and support can be channelled that contribute to the strengthening of the scientific-philosophical community in our country.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) may be tailored for any of the topical areas listed under the M.S. A research proposal and dissertation based on original research are required as major components of the PhD degree program. The degree requires 60 semester hours beyond the bachelor degree.

The William S. Boyd School of Law and the UNLV College of Education offer a dual Juris Doctor/Ph.D. in Education (JD/Ph.D.) degree program that allows students admitted to both programs to pursue the two degrees concurrently.

Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program The UNLV Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, in the scientist-practitioner tradition, prepares students to address psychological concerns through both scholarly research and the application of psychological knowledge and skills in practice. We recognize psychology as an empirical science and expect students to have a broad understanding of existing psychological knowledge and methods. We train students to base their scholarly and professional activity on the scientific foundation of psychology, including an understanding of and attention to human diversity. We train students as generalists who are prepared to conduct ethically appropriate scientific research and clinical interventions with children and adults in an increasingly multicultural society. We provide an integration of didactic study, supervised clinical activity, and mentored scholarly research. This mission is consistent with and complementary to the mission of the Department of Psychology and UNLV. The program is accredited by the American Psychological Association.

We offer PhD degrees in each department. Some programs offer a PhD degree post-bachelor’s degree and some post-master’s degree. Refer to the department web sites for program, course and department-specific offerings.

The purpose of the Ph.D. program is to produce teacher-scholars for the church and the academy who can educate persons for Christian ministry and lives of Christian service, and who themselves will teach and write within the academy generally and the wider public.

McMaster’s Doctoral Program in Philosophy offers courses of study leading to the degree of Ph.D. in philosophy. The program is designed so that students may quickly enter into the excitement of their own research, while steadily building a solid foundation of comprehensive knowledge.

A significant feature of these programs is the extensive and diverse range of courses available to graduate students every semester. They cover the history and problems of philosophy, allowing for concentration in the following areas: Ancient Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy, Modern Philosophy, Phenomenology and Contemporary Continental Philosophy, Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Law, Philosophy of Religion, Epistemology, and Philosophy of Science.

At the third cycle level, students can acquire the degrees of Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies en philosophie, Doctor of Philosophy and Agrégé de l'enseignement supérieur in philosophy.
