Students engage in a hybrid learning format that allows them to attend 2-week seminars with their cohorts. This allows students to remain fully engaged with their families, full-time ministries, and places of residence while completing the program. Students remain in their fields of service for the entire program. Student come directly to McAfee for classes and focused collegial interaction, for individual study at the library, and to engage in consultation with the student's faculty supervisor.

The program is designed for Graduates to increase their ministerial competencies to a truly professional level, to become experts in all skills and competencies related to Christian ministry: critical reflection, interpersonal skills, capacity for theological interpretation, and special skills for service in particular contexts.

The Doctor of Ministry degree (DMin) is a professional doctoral degree meant to enrich religious leaders in traditional and non-traditional settings, deepen their understanding of and commitment to ministry, and refine its practice. The focus of the Boston University DMin is Transformational Leadership, and anyone can become a transformational leader.

The Doctor of Ministry is designed to prepare qualified candidates already trained and involved in ministry to render spiritual, ecclesiastical, and vocational Christian leadership at the highest level of competence consistent with the mission statement of the Divinity School. The Doctor of Ministry consists of thirty credit hours, including core courses, electives in a selected area of vocational emphasis, and an approved ministry research project and written project report. A maximum of six hours of elective credit may be considered for transfer from other approved educational programs.

The Huntsville Bible College Doctor of Ministry– Biblical Leadership is designed to provide advanced preparation for the field of Biblical Leadership. The purpose of the program is to develop competent and effective experts to assume critical leadership roles.

The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) program is approved by the Association of Theological Schools. The Doctor of Ministry program is a part-time, residential program that meets three-weeks of the year in January, June and July, for two years; a total of 6 weeks. Each week is a 3-credit course framed by pre-reading assignments and a major academic paper following the class. In addition to the residential intensive courses (Sunday evening to Friday Noon), students fulfill the remaining requirement of 9 credits through three online courses from the University of St. Mary of the Lake. The total number of credits required for the D.Min. is 30 credit hours of which, 3 credits are achieved through the Doctor of Ministry thesis project.
