PhD in
Doctorate in Engineering Sciences (DCI) Tecnológico de Monterrey - ITESM

Introduction
By its nature, the DCI is multidisciplinary, covering four areas of knowledge (biotechnology, mechatronics, industrial engineering and environmental systems) that have been selected among the research lines with greater strength within the Division of Engineering and Architecture. These areas interact with each other through projects, centers and research chairs
The areas of knowledge serve as a crucible for the definition of the research lines of the DCI Program:
- Mechatronics and Advanced Manufacturing
Mechatronics and Advanced Manufacturing comprises the analysis and synthesis of complex systems in which multiple disciplines interact. The Mechatronics and Advanced Manufacturing line responds to the need to train human resources for research, with a high level of preparation in the disciplines of Automation, Mechanics and Electronics. - Clean Energies and Sustainable Use of Water
Clean Energy and Sustainable Use of Water responds to global needs by evolving operational approaches, from treatments for pollution control to the concept of corporate social responsibility. Indicates the relevance that in relation to the economic and social spheres has the use of natural resources with an ecosystemic approach, the care of the physical environment and the protection of the health of the population, all with a focus and vision of sustainability. - Industrial engineer
Industrial Engineering is related to the increase of competitiveness worldwide and represents one of the greatest challenges of any nation, particularly its institutions and companies who will have to face a continuous process of increased productivity, efficient use of resources and generation of courage to face the growing competition. Research at the frontier of knowledge of the Industrial Engineering line contributes to the search, development and implementation of new ways of operating and improving operational and administrative processes mainly through the development of new and innovative models of decision making. - Telecommunications (T)
Telecommunications contributes with solutions to fundamental problems in networks and systems that transport information and that allow the design of platforms that drive the digital industry of the future and technologies such as IoT, Smart Cities, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), smart-grid, Big-Data, e-health, 5G, cognitive radio, white spaces, location systems, and sensors, to improve the quality of life of 21st century society. Research is developed to optimize and stochastically model the essential understanding of the fundamental performance in the areas of wireless communications and networks, in the treatment of signals and information, in the convergence between optical communication networks and wireless networks, vehicular communications, photonic crystals, aspects of the levels of the physical layer, connectivity, modulation, reconfigurable network architecture, sensors, and their applications.
