Introduction
Doctoral School
Gdańsk University of Technology (Gdańsk Tech) offers education in the Doctoral School which is free of charge, provides a scholarship, and a creative and interdisciplinary approach to research. Our school was founded in 2019 and started functioning as of the academic year 2019/2020. However, the doctoral studies at our university are more than 30 years old.
The Ph.D. training is conducted in 13 disciplines fully in English. Two of these are also offered within our cooperation with the two institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, both based in Gdańsk - the Szewalski Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery (discipline: mechanical engineering) and the Institute of Hydro-Engineering (discipline: civil engineering and transport). All of these programs are interdisciplinary.

Curriculum
Engineering Studies
PhD program is run at the Doctoral School at Gdansk University of Technology (Gdansk Tech) and offers 4-year-long PhD training. It concerns the following disciplines: civil engineering and transport; architecture and urbanism; environmental engineering, mining and power engineering; materials engineering; mechanical engineering; control, electronic and electrical engineering; technical informatics and telecommunications; biomedical engineering.
PhD programme is aimed at teaching doctoral students innovative and novel techniques, methodologies and implementations focused on engineering aspects related to the chosen discipline. It covers a wide spectrum of topics and includes obligatory and facultative courses as well as lectures conducted by visiting professors from related research areas. The programme provides the doctoral students with the required background, allowing them to develop their own ideas and concepts, as well as creative problem solving skills. The individual contact with a supervisor and participation in the research conducted under his/her leadership is one of the most important elements of education.
The graduates of the PhD programme have the knowledge and skills in the field of engineering within the chosen discipline. They are qualified either to enter an industry as unit leaders or to continue their research in academia.
