Austria

Due to its rich cultural past and present, Austria is cherished by people worldwide.

Salzburg

Nestled under the Alps the fourth largest city of Austria is world famous for being the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and internationally renowned for its’ baroque architecture. The city has three universities and a large student population. Salzburg houses the headquarters of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Salzburg is one of the most beautiful cities of Europe, which has been carefully preserved over the centuries. It is surrounded by spectacular landscapes, lakes, Alpine foothills and mountain peaks.

The palaces, archbishops' churches, squares and fountains, and most notably the Fortress, reflect the love of splendor of the once powerful archbishops who ruled the city.

The beauty of the city and the natural setting has attracted travelers for centuries and still is a major tourist attraction today. You will be able to get to know the town more intimately than any tourist can.

Slovenia

Slovenia strongly supports the idea of construction of a genuine European area of knowledge and strives to implement measures supporting equal opportunities, school success, mobility in general, higher education and vocational education and training, language learning, safety at school, non-discrimination, educational technologies and distance education, academic and professional recognition of qualifications, educational statistics, overall development of general education and vocational training, development of undergraduate and the modernization of postgraduate studies.

Ljubljana

Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. Besides having everything that all the other modern capitals have, Ljubljana succeeded in maintaining the relaxed atmosphere of a small city. Ljubljana has a large student population and its’ central geographic location means you can reach the Alps or the Adriatic Sea within an hour.

Maribor

Maribor is the second largest city in Slovenia. In 2012 it was the European Capital of Culture and in 2013 it was the European Youth Capital. It is the hometown of many famous and internationally renowned artists and sportsmen, the most successful football club in Slovenia, the oldest vine in the world, the second oldest synagogue in Europe, host of the ladies FIS alpine skiing world cup… Maribor has a large student population and is a popular destination for exchange students.

Murska Sobota

Murska Sobota is the biggest town in the northeastern part of Slovenia and the regional capital of Prekmurje. It has a unique feature in comparison to the rest of Slovenia, which is mostly Alpine: Muska Sobota is the only Slovenian town situated on an actual plain. Throughout the year, the life of the town is enriched by cultural, entertaining, traditional, culinary, and sports events.

Croatia

Croatia is a welcoming place for students wishing to study in a country renowned for its beautiful coast, for its mix of Mediterranean and South-Eastern European charm and for its rich historical and cultural heritage.

Zagreb

Zagreb is the capital and largest city of Croatia. It is the cultural, economic, sporting and governmental hub of the country. Zagreb is a vibrant city with a large student population, famous for its many green parks and nightlife. The city throbs with energy but has managed to retain a good deal of old-world graciousness.

    Admissions

    Graduate Admissions

    Our selective doctoral and masters programs are tailored to recent graduates and early-career professionals from any country and diverse set of backgrounds. Each year we accept 20 to 40 students in each master's program, and between 12 and 20 doctoral candidates per PhD program.

    • For the master's program, the minimum criteria are a bachelor’s/undergraduate degree and English language proficiency.
    • For the Ph.D., at minimum, you need to hold a master's degree or a 4-year undergraduate/bachelor’s degree, and very good command of written and spoken English.

    The Admission Process

    The admission process is hassle-free and easy. It starts with your non-binding online application, which takes about 15-20 minutes. You are encouraged to fill it out as soon as possible, as we accept applications on a rolling basis.

    As part of your application, you will indicate whether you are applying for the merit- or need-based Academicus scholarship.

    You will hear from the Admissions Office within ten days of your application. If the Admission Office team confirms you as a suitable candidate, you will be invited to an interview and upload your diplomas and documents. You will receive the Academicus scholarship decision and apply for additional scholarships, including some that cover full tuition.

    Via Calendly, you will sign up for the interview, which will take place within a week. Within a week after the interview and your complete application, Alma Mater will accept or reject your application and inform you about the scholarships and the tuition.

    Scholarships and Funding

    Grants, Scholarships and Assistantships for Doctoral and Masters Degree Students

    A Ph.D. is a research degree that involves producing original knowledge and scholarship. Alma Mater Ph.D. candidates present their scholarship at research colloquia and conferences, publish their work in peer-reviewed publications, and conduct research either at or away from the university. Some also teach courses, are involved in multiple research projects, and apply for grants and fellowships. A master's degree at Alma Mater Europaea involves completing a master's thesis. Some students' theses are of the highest quality and converted into books or scholarly articles.

    Alma Mater Europaea is pleased to announce research grants, full-tuition scholarships, stipends, research fellowships, and teaching assistantships. For students applying in 2023, Alma Mater and its partners offer the following:

    • Academicus Scholarships, available to Masters and Ph.D. students. For a maximum of 9,000 Euros for three years (3,000 Euros per year) for students who demonstrate passion and talent or need financial support.
    • Plenković Scholarships, available to Masters and Ph.D. students. Two students will receive these highly selective and prestigious grants covering all costs, including full tuition, travel and board, to conduct world-class research related to media, information science, or public relations. Candidates must demonstrate past publications or remarkable achievements and the ability to produce exceptional research.
    • Teaching Assistantships, available to selected Ph.D. candidates who will co-teach undergraduate classes.
    • Artificial Intelligence solution grants, available to Applied Artificial Intelligence Ph.D. students. If you have a specific Artificial Intelligence project or research topic that you care deeply about and are interested in studying the project or subject from a theoretical angle, we invite you to combine your work with a doctorate. Grants are available for up to 120,000 Euros for three years (40,000 Euros per year). World-changing AI solutions may receive even more significant business partnership proposals.
