The implementation of a PhD program in Psychology arises as a proposal from the Department of Social, Basic and Methodological Psychology of the USC to the need to have a mechanism for the training of PhDs in Social and Behavioral Sciences within the Galician University System.

Tourism has been consolidated as one of the most relevant sectors from the economic and social point of view, not only in Spain but also worldwide. In the context of disciplines of a social nature, tourism is an interdisciplinary object of knowledge that covers a wide range of activities carried out by private companies and public institutions, with an impact on the lives of people, both residents and visitors. This doctoral program brings together two singularities that make it especially attractive: the participation of 12 Spanish universities with extensive experience in tourism studies, creating synergies and stimuli for the student body; and the interdisciplinary nature with the active involvement of numerous areas of knowledge that contribute to enriching the Program through a wide range of lines of research.

The Political Marketing, Actors and Institutions in Contemporary Societies Doctorate Program is inserted in the field of research in Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology, presenting the doctoral student with a research scenario from the construction of critical thinking as well as discussion , empirical and theoretical insight into key social and political problems, the formulation of relevant research questions and identification of knowledge gaps in the field of political and social sciences.

The main objective of this doctoral program is research and innovation on socio-educational programs, actions, resources and policies necessary to achieve equity in education.

Doctoral studies in Education are aimed at training researchers, with a strong emphasis on both qualitative and quantitative research methodology and techniques.

This program is adapted to a specialized and competitive postgraduate offer with respect to the university, national and international environment, increasing the social prestige of postgraduate studies. With this proposal it is intended to reinforce the prestige of the research trajectory of the USC.

This doctoral program provides a double continuity: firstly, to the previously existing doctoral program, and secondly to the Official Master's Degree in Regional Development and Economic Integration, which is provided by the teaching period. It deals with a rigorous, transversal program and with the participation of multiple areas of knowledge seeking interdisciplinarity in analysis rather than the excessive specialization that occurred in some of the doctoral courses of a more formal nature, scarcely intensive and with hardly any orientation to the research training.

This doctoral program is inter-university in nature and researchers from the universities of A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela participate in it. Their teams also include researchers from the universities of Barcelona, Oviedo and Valencia, as well as the Matia Gerontological Institute (INGEMA).

The Doctorate in Contemporary Communication and Information offers university training with a high level of specialization to meet the academic and scientific needs that derive from the different lines of research linked to Journalism and Audiovisual Communication.

The Doctoral Program in Economic Analysis and Business Strategy arises from the commitment of a group of professors from the Faculties of Economic and Business Sciences of the three Universities of the Galician University System (SUG) who intend to join forces to train researchers capable of publicizing their work in internationally disseminated journals specialized in economics and academic journals present in the Journal of Citation Report (JCR).

The teachings of the Doctorate in Environment and Natural Resources at USC have a long history with more than 30 years of experience in postgraduate courses and doctoral programs.

The PhD Program in Mathematics, associated with the "Campus Vida" of International Excellence of the USC, and with a quality mention obtained in 2008, has a long history at this University. The doctors trained in it created research groups that successfully competed in regional, national and European calls for funding and their publications achieved and continue to achieve levels of high quality and impact.

The optical science and technology of Laser, Photonics and Vision is a field of knowledge whose objective is the study of the generation, transmission, detection, control and manipulation of light. This study is oriented towards the development of technologies with applications of high interest in multiple and disparate socioeconomic and health fields, ranging from telecommunications, life and health sciences, the environment, industrial metrology, leisure... Until the scientific-technical frontiers such as nano-optics, quantum processing and communications, optical metamaterials, etc.

The doctoral program is developed in the prestigious field of Nuclear and Particle Physics, which seeks to understand the structure of matter by studying its most elementary components in terms of nuclei, particles and the interactions between them.

Statistics and operations research are today of great importance as part of mathematics and as necessary disciplines for the understanding and advancement of other branches such as Economics, Engineering or Medicine, among others.
