QBM seeks to train a cohort of young scientists who, while firmly anchored in their home discipline, are well versed in multiple approaches and styles of thought. The goal is for the students to get comfortable in communicating across traditional boundaries, especially across the divide between experiment and quantitative theory – to become, in effect, scientifically bi- or multilingual. To this end, the school offers an integrated interdisciplinary Ph.D. program that consists of three main components:
An interdisciplinary research project which combines concepts and methods from different fields.
A substantial program of formal course work with a general and an individual component centered around an interdisciplinary core course that covers key problems in bioscience from multiple perspectives.
Further activities to enhance students’ other transferable skills to succeed in science as a competitive profession.

The Ph.D. program in the graduate field of Applied Physics (AP) provides students with mastery of a broad knowledge base in applied physics, as well as advanced research focuses that prepare them for successful research-driven careers in academia, government or industry.
As a nationally and internationally recognized Ph.D. program, NJIT’s Applied Physics Ph.D. program prepares Ph.D. candidates with practical skills and theoretical knowledge for a successful career in academic or government organizations and private industry. Students will prepare for passing their written qualifier exams, as well as gain the theoretical and experimental background needed for their research, which they will orally present and defend as part of their Ph.D. thesis. Throughout their study as a Ph.D. candidate, students will exhibit the following:...

The objective of graduate work in physics is to prepare the student for continued professional and scholarly development as a physicist. The Physics Master of Science Degree Programs are designed to give the student advanced training in all fundamental areas of physics through formal courses and the options of some degree of specialization or participation in original research in one of a variety of projects directed by the faculty. The Doctor of Philosophy in Physics and Applied Physics Program combines the traditional elements of a science doctoral program with courses in specifically applied topics and internship in a technological environment. It is designed to produce highly trained professionals with a broad perspective of the subject which may prepare them equally well for careers in academic or government or industrial laboratories....

PhD in Physics
The graduate physics program at Koç University is carried on by our world-renowned faculty who specialize mainly in quantum theory and optics. All the research laboratories are state-of-the-art. We publish papers in top journals on quantum gravity and astrophysics, atom-photon interactions, Bose-Einstein condensates, lasers, and photonics. We admit mostly PhD students with full-scholarship. The MS program without thesis is recently introduced and may appeal to those who are not going to pursue an academic career. All our graduate students find the opportunity of close everyday contact in research with the world-class faculty. We encourage them to take courses from the other program as well so that they can broaden their interests. We also get this way some of the brightest students at the university coming to the physics classes. Our graduates mostly continue as post-docs at the best universities in the world and eventually go to academic life. Others have no difficulty in finding jobs in business or industry. ...
