Established in 2015 the Doctoral School of Law Enforcement is currently the single doctoral school in Hungary explicitly focusing on research issues of law enforcement. In addition to the other faculties, institutes and organizational bodies of NUPS, the Doctoral School intends to involve scholars from external partners (international partners, universities and research institutes) in order to enhance the research programmes in law enforcement. Objectives, tasks, and role of KMDI in international science

The main objectives of our doctoral school can be summed up in the following points:

To provide high-quality education for our doctoral students, educating them through research to become the next generation of the educational and research elite, primarily for university faculties of military engineering sciences; To educate a research elite to satisfy user and market demands (short and long-term), especially to carry out high-quality military technology developer, organizer and senior operator tasks in military technical research at national and NATO levels, and for non-military organizations associated with the research areas of military engineering sciences; To increase the educational and research performance of the school and its academic staff effectively, the regular publication of its own new research results in the most prestigious domestic and international scientific journals, conferences; To produce research findings measurable through international comparison both by lecturers (supervisors) and Ph.D. students; To create research workshops for elite training and for the successful development of excellence; To ensure excellent, high quality organization and management of education and research with special regard to increasing efficiency (providing everyone with access to information and infrastructure, to make them more effective and utilized), to the creation of publicity (visiting members, instructors, opponents, critics), and to strict compliance with science ethics. Overview

The Doctoral School of Military Sciences focuses on the questions of military science regarding the activities of the defense sphere. This includes a wide spectrum of research fields from military history through security theories, defense administration to national security.

Although the doctoral programme of the School is primarily based on certain accredited MSc programmes of the National University of Public Service, the law on higher education allows the admission of graduates of other universities and with a scientific background related to military sciences.

The Doctoral School of Public Administration Sciences was established in 2013. Currently, it is the only doctoral school specializing in the field of public administration in Hungary. The aim of the Doctoral School’s program is to provide postgraduate-level education to professionals (researchers and practitioners) working in the field of public administration.

Ph.D. in Communication and Media Science

Duration of training in semesters: 8 academic semesters

Number of credits to be achieved in the frame of the program: 240 ECTS

Communication allows individuals and organizations to conceive, recognize and comprehend their own sociocultural environment. The sociocultural environment of human social-cultural existence consists in patterns in the utilization of symbols. Our program in English combines theories, methods, and paradigms of sociology, communication and media studies, cultural studies, social psychology, and historical social sciences. We put emphasis and strongly encourage critical, global and interdisciplinary works; thereby the School is planned to be part of the international network of knowledge production.... [-]

The Ph.D. program in Sociology aims to prepare students to carry out high-quality research in economic sociology and related social areas. In order to achieve this goal, we offer courses in sociological theory, methodology, stratification, economic sociology, and subject area topics. Ph.D. students are supposed to take part in research seminars from the beginning, where their topic is discussed and developed.

The aim of the program is to offer postgraduate studies in the multidisciplinary field of International Studies. Since International Studies consists of many academic fields, in the structure of the program such sciences as International Law, International Economics, Theory of International Relations, History of International relations, Regional Studies can be found. The lectures of the Doctoral School are mainly organized by the Department of World Economy (Faculty of Economics) and the Institute for International Studies (Faculty of Social Sciences).

The doctoral program covers two major areas: education and research. The first two years of the course constitutes the educational period. Research starts parallel with the educational program and makes up the final year of the program. The first year of studies include core subjects on methodology and theory, some attended by students of both subprograms, while others are course-specific.... [-]

The Doctoral School of Political Science of the Corvinus University was founded in 2002 by Professor Attila Agh. By the end of 2016, 23 students have received their doctoral degrees, many of whom are now teaching and doing research at various universities, think tanks, and academic institutions. Annually, we admit 6-8 new students from a diverse field of interest, including political theory, party politics, government studies, public policy, local politics, Hungarian and comparative politics. The School is supported by the Institute of Political Science and the Department of Public Policy and Management. Its current Head is Professor Andras Körösényi.

The curriculum of the two-year period of studying is constantly adjusted to the needs of the students which makes this program come close to a tutorial system. Students are strongly encouraged to work on their individual projects, and to participate in conferences, workshops, colloquia both at home and abroad. This is the main priority of the School.
