Part time Doctors of Philosophy in European studies 2021 in Europe

The aim of doctoral studies is to prepare qualified researchers in the field of Czech and Czechoslovak history, who will become the mainstay of further historical research. The studies develop special knowledge of doctoral students and provide them with a deeper understanding of the chosen specialization. Via lectures and seminars, doctoral students get acquainted with the latest knowledge of historical science as well as current trends in methodology. The focus of doctoral studies lies in presenting written dissertation thesis of original scholarly work based on the original source base. Ph.D. thesis should extend previous research findings, and doctoral students also demonstrated the ability to handle the topic with adequate methods and at the international level. -

The field of study European Cultural History represents theoretically and methodically well-trained, empirically well-established experts in the history of Europe and especially of the Bohemian lands in the 20th century. In connection with the Magister study programs European Cultural and Intellectual History and Oral History, the possible dissertation topics focus primarily on the cultural, social, intellectual, but also on the political and everyday history of Europe since the end of the First World War as well on the complexly understood history of Czechoslovakia and the Bohemian countries in the European context. Graduates in this field can eventually serve as academic staff in a wide range of historically oriented subjects, as well as opening up career opportunities in government administration, the public sector (governmental and non-governmental organizations) and the media. -
