Graduates will be able to present and defend the outcomes of their research in the local and international scientific community. Graduates are able to state objectives and choose methods of their own research work and are able to formulate original scientific and research projects. Graduates communicate actively in at least two languages within their field, they publish articles in specialized publications, and they are able to present their research in lectures. Graduates work as highly qualified specialists in scientific and research institutions (universities, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, museums, archives, etc.) or in spheres where their education and experience are valuable (state administration, politics, diplomacy, cultural and educational institutions, preservation, etc.). -

The Physical Chemistry doctoral degree study programme educates students and pushes them to gain the highest degree of knowledge in their selected fields. This programme prepares students for independent work in the field, focusing on physical chemistry. Students in this department will research thermodynamics and kinetics, processes in amorphous materials, heterogeneous catalytic processes or more generally the homogeneous and heterogeneous systems, reaction kinetics and adsorption processes. This study programme focuses on theoretical and experimental research and applies progressive methods, using modern methods of mathematical simulation while building on experimental data. PhD students must pass exams in at least three courses (selected from 17 offered) as well as the English language exam. PhD students are able to pass an unlimited number of optional subjects offered by other Doctoral study programs at the University of Pardubice or by fellow research institutes of the Academy of Science or abroad (i.e. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry, NIMS Tsukuba Japan). Graduates complete their study when they successfully pass their PhD oral examination and dissertation thesis defence. Graduates of this program work as independent senior researchers in the private or public sector and work as research or production team leaders. -
