The program of PhD in Social and Behavioral Sciences Has a long tradition in the training of doctors and doctors through the different departments and areas of knowledge participating in the Faculty of Sociology and the five areas of the Department of Psychology that has its headquarters in the Faculty of Education Sciences .
It includes lecturers from the research groups ECRIM (Criminology, Legal Psychology and Criminal Justice in the 21st Century), the Molecular and Behavioral Diagnostic applied to Health (DICOMOSA), the Research Group on Experimental Psychology (GIPE), the GRIPA (Environmental Personnel Research Group) of the Department of Psychology, the ESOMI (Sociology Team for International Migration), the GET (Territorial Studies Group), the OSIM (Social Organizations, Institutions and Markets) or the Analysis and Sociopolitical Prospective (LAPSO).
This program integrates 6 Departments and 11 areas of knowledge. The areas are:

Personality, Evaluation and Psychological Treatments
Why study the degree
This is the only Doctorate program of the UDC which covers the Social and Behavioral Sciences as a whole. In contrast to other more focused on very specific aspects, this one addresses most of the research fields of both the Social Sciences and Behavior.
The present proposal for a Doctoral Program in Social and Behavioral Sciences is due to a reorganization and integration of previous offers from the University of A Coruña aimed at the training of doctors and doctors. These previous programs were assigned to different departments and areas of knowledge that obeyed a previous academic-administrative division, but became inadequate and obsolete when the objective is to achieve other objectives, such as a multidisciplinary training of researchers in the complex Research topics currently facing Social and Behavioral Science, an increase in the supply of lines of research, and a reduction-centralization of the administrative apparatus.
This proposal for a Doctorate Program also establishes a framework that encourages researchers at our university to improve the quantity and quality of their production and to strengthen collaboration networks with other universities in the State and abroad (especially in Europe) , And with non-university research institutions.

Specific Training Complements
In case the doctor does not have the complete previous training required in the program, his / her admission to the program may be conditioned to the surpassing of specific training complements, which may be subjects or modules of master and degree. The complements assigned to the same doctorate may not exceed 15 ECTS credits and may be made prior or simultaneous to the tuition in academic tuition in the program.
In case of simultaneous realization the students will have to register for these complements at the moment of formalizing the tuition of academic tutelage in the program, which must be surpassed in the maximum term of three consecutive quarters. Failure to do so will result in student disqualification from the program.
Formative Activities of the Program
Each student must upload to the Doctorate platform the activities that he performs, and that are required by the Program, as specified below. These activities will be evaluated by the tutor assigned to the student. No training complements are considered, since they are not considered necessary. It is estimated that access qualifications guarantee that students have the necessary knowledge and skills to be admitted to the PhD Program.
The training activities to be carried out during the PhD period are specified below:
Orientation day (4 hours)
Training in search of information and documentation in Social Sciences (10 hours)
Training in research planning and feasibility (1 hour)
Ability to develop research activities in scientific fields (20 hours)
Public presentation of the advances in the research work (1 hour)
Professional and academic outputs
The academic output is the most classical, consisting of being able to compete competitively with the places that universities call. For this, it is practically essential the possession of the title of Doctor. In this respect, it is of particular interest to refer to the RES / ESN (European Sociological Network). The University of A Coruña signed an agreement for the Implementation of Studies in the European Network of Sociology. This academic program is based on a university network that covers several European countries with the objective of coordinating double university degrees in the three cycles of studies (Degree, Master and Doctorate) and to give students the possibility of obtaining degrees in this context of universities Of the RES / ESN (European Sociological Network) of different European countries. Therefore, since the third cycle is one of the academic levels involved, the launch of a new PhD in Social Sciences offers more opportunities for the student and promotes the development and intensification of academic cooperation between universities.
Regardless of whether any student who complies with the requirements established in articles 6 and 7 of Royal Decree 99/2011 of January 28, which regulates the official teaching of Doctorate, to ensure the adequate training of students and the criteria Of success of the Doctorate Program, establishes a series of criteria of priority of admission, that do not exclude to any applicant that possesses the requirements of the mentioned Royal Decree.
Students with the DEA degree obtained through extinguished or extinguished programs linked to the departments that make up the Faculty of Sociology of the UDC, as well as the Department of Psychology and Evolutionary Psychology and The Education of the UDC.
The CAPD will assess the suitability of the training of candidates who prove to have passed at least 60 ECTS in some other official master's degree when, after the preferential admission of students, vacancies remain.
