Genetics is a scientific branch dealing with heredity and variation of organisms. Modern genetics is an essential and fundamental part of the majority of biological disciplines with a great impact on medicine, agriculture, food or pharmaceutical industries. Our Ph.D. program in Genetics is based on a systems-level understanding of biological processes and their regulation from cells and individuals to populations with an accent on evolutionary aspects. -

The study field of mathematical analysis is focused on the studium of basic and advanced parts of the mathematical analysis. It is a subdiscipline of mathematics whose primary goal is the description of natural or social processes which involve a certain form of dynamic progress, mostly a motion or a change. The basic principles of mathematical analysis consist of all forms of limiting processes. The top education in mathematical analysis consists of the ability to solve differential equations of all types. -

The doctoral program primarily aims at graduates from teacher preparation programs in mathematics and computer science, enabling them to deepen their knowledge from master's programs and take part in ongoing research. The program focuses on elementary mathematics and computer science, their history, as well as teaching. In elementary mathematics and computer science, the emphasis is placed on topics that connect and extend both high-school and university curricula. In history, attention is paid especially to the 19th and 20th centuries, Czech mathematics and computer science. History is also closely related to problems of teaching, as the progress of science depends on the transfer of knowledge from teachers to students, which is supported by textbooks. -

The goal of the doctoral study program (DSP) is to educate excellent experts in the physics of nanostructures and nanomaterials suited for the future carrier in basic and applied research in nanotechnologies. The main pillars of the DSP are the theoretical and experimental condensed matter physics and physics of surfaces, advanced experimental and theoretical methods for studying the nanostructures, and smart technologies for preparation of nanostructures and nanomaterials. The DSP is of highly interdisciplinary nature and fits the cutting-edge topics of current physical and material sciences like spintronics, nanoelectronics, nanomedicine, and quantum computing. It is the only DSP in the Faculty of mathematics and physics, which integrates various areas of physics and materials research with outreach to chemistry, biology, and medicine. In coherence with the tradition of the education, in the Faculty of mathematics and physics, the ultimate goal of the education in the DSP is to provide a deep theoretical background for understanding the key physical principles and phenomena underlying the unique properties of nanostructures and nanomaterials. -
